09-10-2026 AWG Meeting at FamilySearch Center, Oakland CA

Excited for today. Meeting with my AWG (Acalanes Writing Group) at the Oakland FamilySearch Center. We have planned this for months. We meet monthly to discuss our writing projects and give each other feedback. We have been meeting since 2019. I can't believe it's been that long. Everyone made it except Margaret. Unfortunately, she was sick. 

We could have talked all day. We discussed making our in-person meeting next year a full-day event. We went to the same café as we did last year. My BLTA was tasty, and the bacon was done to my liking. After lunch, we talked a little longer, then went our separate ways. 

Lisa and I drove over to MLK Jr. Regional Shoreline Park by the Oakland Airport to do some bird watching. The tide was in, so not many shore birds were hanging out. We did see a few Dunlin and Pied-billed Grebes. 

Afterward, Lisa drove me back to the OFSC, and I headed back to Marin. Wonderful day.

Genealogy Fireworks in Stonewall: Whispers, Surprises, and a Happy Dance Most genealogy days feel routine, like flipping through old pages. But every now and then, you hit the jackpot — fireworks go off, your heart races, and the ancestors practically shout, “Pay attention!” That’s exactly what happened to me in Stonewall. From the moment we pulled out of the Arbuckle RV Resort — just a 30-minute drive away — I had no clue the day would end with me doing a full-on genealogy happy dance. Everything felt wet and balmy due to last night’s crazy thunderstorm. 05-05-2025, Florida Key West Trip 3/27 – 6/30 2025, 96 Days, 7986 Miles, 44 Stops

05 May 2025, Keys Palm Luxury RV Resort, Key Largo, Florida Jeeps – 7 It was a beautiful day. This morning, we had a little rain that lasted for a few minutes. UV rays were a 10. I spent the morning working on blogs, trying to catch up after our delay in Palm Springs. Barry spent the morning doing chores.  We walked to the beach to find J&K to let them know we planned to go to dinner if they wanted to join us. They will think about it, but in the end, they decide not to.  We left around 4:15 PM for an early dinner at The Lazy Lobster. They had special margaritas and a mariachi band since it was Cinco de Mayo. I had scallops, and Barry had a mix of seafood over a hogfish fillet. We both loved our meals. We were glad we went early, as the crowds were starting to arrive.  Later, we walked to the beach to watch our last sunset in Key Largo. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. 04-28-2025, Florida Key West Trip 3/27 – 6/30 2025, 96 Days, 7986 Miles, 44 Stops

28 April 2025, Disney World Epcot  We were able to enter Epcot early since we stayed at a Disney Hotel. We immediately weaved through the crowd to Guardians of the Galaxy. What a great ride. It’s a dark ride, and the cars spin, but is it ever fun!  Best ride in Epcot. The other rides we rode are: Mission Space Soar’in Over the World Gran Fiesta Tour – The Three Caballeros Darn! We didn’t ride the Monorail We hooked up with J&K at The Three Caballeros and ate lunch at the restaurant right by the ride, San Angel Inn Restaurante. From here, we continued to walk around the World Pond, visiting most of the nations represented: Canada for Barry, the United Kingdom, Japan, American Adventure, Germany, China, and Mexico. I bought ornaments, a Japanese fan, and a Chinese parasol. In American Adventure, Ken wanted to see the movie, so we entered the American Adventure building.
