16 April 2025, Lafayette KOA Holiday Jeeps-2 Happy Morning!! Someone came home to the dog!!! I feel so much better. I sat out front for a while, bird-watching and recording birds. There were many birds until the lawnmower started. Oh well...it’s 9:00 AM, so at least they waited until then. I recorded the birds in my bird book and prepared for the day.  This morning, I was looking at the RV park map and discovered a cemetery at the back of the park. This park has 421 sites and the back is the newer section. Barry went to turn in the key card to the gate and found out the original homesteaders, Tompkins, are buried there. I decided to take a field trip and drive to see it. We walked past it last night but didn’t see it since it was dark.  The small circle on the left is our campsite. The larger circle on the right is the cemetery. On the drive today to Louisiana, I checked Find A Grave and found the information for this cemetery, starting with Memorial ID: 53815860. 12 April 2025 San Antonio/Alamo KOA Holiday Jeeps – 16 It's a great RV park with decent-sized sites. We decided to check out the park café for dinner. Across the sidewalk was the barn, which was all set up with tables, chairs, and ping-pong. We ordered a pizza. As we were eating, a KOA person was setting up for bingo. We decided to play while we were eating. We had fun, and I won a rubber ducky.   We took our leftovers and wandered back to our RVs. Many birds were around, so I opened my Merlin app and started recording.  The only bird it picked up was a Great-tailed Grackle. I love the sounds they make.  I did some laundry, and then the four of us met for our next day's planning session, followed by bedtime.  It was warm in the barn.  That is why my face is so red. This is the rubber duck I won. Copyright © 2025 by Jacqueline Threet Henderson, Jacqueline's Jaunts. All rights reserved.

08 April 2025, Alamogordo/White Sands KOA Journey   Goodbyes took a bit by the time we hugged Kenny’s Family and thanked them for a fantastic time.  Today’s destination is Alamogordo, New Mexico, to visit the White Sands National Park. It was a three-hour drive to the RV park.  The drive was boring, consisting of desert sagebrush and cacti. We loved how the rig took the foothills. It was so much better than our last RV, which was gas. We arrived at the Alamogordo/White Sands KOA Journey in excellent time. The site was nice, with a clean BBQ, a table, and a bench swing.  We only had today, so we quickly settled and drove to White Sands National Park. It was fifteen minutes from the KOA. We each took our own Jeeps just in case one of us wanted to leave earlier.  Before we left town, a significant accident occurred. Both sides of the highway were closed, and we and all the diesel trucks had to make a considerable detour. It was about a couple of miles out of our wa...
