05-25-2025, Florida Key West Trip 3/27 – 6/30 2025, 96 Days, 7986 Miles, 44 Stops

25 May 2025, St. Augustine Beach KOA, St. Augustine, Florida
to Albany RV Resort, Albany, Georgia

I cannot believe this day has come. It came so fast. We said our goodbyes to Jan & Ken this morning. They are heading west and we are heading north. We reminisced about some of our trip highlights as we bid each other goodbye. So sad to be parting. We will miss them.

We left the St. Augustin Beach KOA Holiday around 11:30 AM. Albany, Georgia, is our next destination. We hit some construction, but most of the drive in Florida was smooth. We crossed into Georgia at 2:00 PM, and about five minutes later, it started pouring. About fifteen minutes later, we were through it.

We drove through rural areas once we turned off I-10 to State Highway 84. We passed beautiful homes and properties. As we passed through Quickman, we saw many flags encircling the Veterans’ building to honor Memorial Day. The flags had signs attached that read, “In honor of and a name” or “In honor of all our veterans.” It was a sobering sight, and I thought it was moving.

Per our email confirmation, we arrived at the Albany RV Resort and pulled into site #12. The office is closed on Sundays. After setting up our rig, I walked around the pond in front of the park. I saw a nest of goose eggs that looked abandoned. Close by, it looked like a white goose sitting on another nest. I also found a Muscovy (domestic) duck in the bottom of a tree cavity. I tried to take a few photos, but they didn't turn out well. I included a photo from a Google search for female Muscovy ducks. There were also other white geese swimming around the pond. Very peaceful.
