We were up early to be at Universal Orlando when it opened. The four of us decided to take an Uber and not deal with parking. I’m so glad we did because the parking looked confusing.
We got in line and they opened the park a few minutes early. Barry and I are rollercoaster enthusiasts, so we headed for Marvel Super Hero Island to the Incredible Hulk Coaster. Luckily, there are free lockers where we can put our hats and backpacks. What a crazy ride. It was wild and we loved it. Thank goodness we got in line right away. As we exited the ride, the line was HUGE.
The Velocicoaster was our next ride and it was in Jurassic World. We ended up waiting an hour, but it was so worth it. The ride was more than we ever anticipated. As the description says on Universal Orlando’s website, “It’s the apex predator of roller coasters... twisting and soaring above the land and water.” It is unbelievable. We have never ridden anything so gnarly before. It turns your insides out. Watch a YouTube video to get an idea, but I’m not sure that will do this ride justice. We also rode the Jurassic Park River Adventure.
After, we met up with J&K and entered The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade. Throughout the day, we kept checking the wait times for Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, but the line was always a two-hour wait. We did get to ride Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey; it was such a fun ride.
In the World Expo Park, a Universal Studios employee, Connor, approached us, asking if we had seen the movie Men in Black. We said yes and it was our lucky day. He ended up taking us behind the scenes of the ride. What an experience. The pictures below tell it all. Thank you, Jan Reynolds, for sharing your photos with me so I can use them here. Once done with the tour, he took us downstairs and moved us ahead of the line for the ride. It was a fun ride. You have a laser gun and shoot aliens that pop up everywhere and rack up points. I think Jan beat us all.
We ate a very late dinner at Mulligan's Irish pub. We ended up closing the park, and we all laughed because at the beginning of the day, Ken said, "We won't be here all day."
I forgot, Skull Island: Reign of Kong was fun. We had no desire for Volcano Bay.
