05-08 to 05-10-2026 On the Road Again, Five National Parks-Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Little Bighorn Battlefield, Theodore Roosevelt, and Glacier
This trip is mainly to visit Yellowstone National Park. It’s been on my bucket list. We will be visiting five National Parks: Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Little Bighorn Battlefield, Theodore Roosevelt, Glacier, and the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. The states we will travel through are Idaho, Wyoming, North Dakota, Montana, and Washington. Our planned route is below.
We left on Friday at 11:30 AM, an hour and a half after our plan. We made it to Ryan and Amanda’s by 3:45 PM. Just in enough time to park the RV, grab our jackets, and jump in Ryan’s truck to head to La Pine for Tucker’s Little League game. We knew it was going to be tight time-wise, but we made it. The game started with Tucker’s team scoring five runs in the first few innings. The game was tied in the fifth inning. In the next-to-last inning, the other team pulled ahead by one. His team had one last chance at bat to score the tying run, but it did not happen. Tucker had one hit, one strikeout, and an infield fly ball that was caught. It was a tough loss and hard to watch as a fan. After the game, we went to Ten Barrel Brewery in Bend for a late dinner. Great food. We didn’t get home and into bed until midnight: a very long day, but a fun one.
Saturday, Amanda, Addison, and I left at 9:45 AM for Prineville High School. The High School was holding a plant sale. The funds help support the high school kids. Addison drove us in her new car, a Chevy Equinox. She is so proud of it. She bought it with her own money. On the way, we stopped at the Historic Crook County Courthouse in Prineville, so I could take pictures. After the plant sale, we went to Chickybellas Specialty Sweets and picked up a bunch of different items for everyone. Their specialty is potato donuts, and they are yummy. If you ever pass through Prineville, this is a must-stop. Once home, everyone dug into the treats. The rest of the day was hanging around, playing with the dogs, and seeing how much their 4-H pigs have grown. At 3:45 PM, we left for Prineville, again, for another one of Tucker’s Little League games. The weather was warm with a slight breeze. This was another good game. Tucker had one hit, one strikeout, and a forced out at second. They ended up winning 10-0. Dinner was at Wild Ride Brewery in Prineville. This is a great place. The brewery does not serve food but does have four food trucks out front. This time, some of the team members and coaches were there too. All of our food was excellent. Barry said the beers were great. Once home, hung out with the dogs a bit and headed to bed.
Sunday, Mother’s Day. We had breakfast with the family. During breakfast, Amanda was rattling off what she wanted everyone to do today...so funny. These kids knew it was going to be a day of chores. After breakfast, we headed to the RV to get ready to leave for our next stop. After we said our goodbyes to everyone and the dogs, we were off.
Our destination for the night is River Point RV Park in Ontario, Oregon. We will be staying just tonight. We arrived around 5:30 PM, found our site, parked, and settled in. It was a long 4-hour drive today.
