05-18-2025, Florida Key West Trip 3/27 – 6/30 2025, 96 Days, 7986 Miles, 44 Stops
18 May 2025, Boyd’s Key West Campground, Key West, Florida
Jeeps - 5
We went around the corner to Croissants De France for breakfast. What a great place. We have wanted to try this since we arrived. I think it’s a good thing we didn’t. They offer a variety of croissants, including both sweet and savory options, as well as sandwiches and other baked goods. We would have all gained five pounds if we did.
During breakfast, we decided to try a new beach. We returned to our rigs, changed into swimsuits, packed drinks in our cooler, and headed for Higgs Beach. This beach was not as crowded as Fort Zachery. The water was beautiful and warm. There is an African Cemetery on the beach. The photo below explains the history. There are about 8 or 10 small concrete pillars with African sayings and symbols on them. I included three images below. I loved it. It was a beautiful tribute.
While sitting on the beach, I began reading “The Cancer Blog” by Judy Fleagle. The author lives in Florence, OR, so I was familiar with many places she refers to. We left around three o’clock. We had dinner reservations at Louie’s Backyard at six o’clock, which the four of us were looking forward to.
Jan and I decided to dress up. We each wore a dress we bought at shops on Duvall Street.
Our view of the ocean from our table was beautiful. Our meals were outstanding. The view from this restaurant is the best in Key West. I could only eat half of my meal and took the rest home. However, we all saved room for their homemade key lime pie with a gingersnap crust. Their Key Lime pie is one of the best on the island. I love the tartness of it. The other is at the First Flight Island Restaurant & Brewery. First Flight Key Lime Pie has an Oreo crust and drizzles of chocolate sauce. YUMMY!
We rolled ourselves out of the restaurant to the jeep and home—another great day in Key West.
