04-27-2025, Florida Key West Trip 3/27 – 6/30 2025, 96 Days, 7986 Miles, 44 Stops

27 April 2025, Orlando/Kissimmee KOA Holiday to Disney World’s Fort Wilderness RV Park, Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Today, we left Orlando for Disney World’s Fort Wilderness RV Park. We arrived at 2:45 PM and checked in. Even though we had a map of our site, we missed the road our campsites were on, so we had to make a circle around the area. We were leading, so I radioed J&K and informed them that we were going on a tour of the area. LOL! We didn’t mind because we got to see more of the park.

We made it to our sites. The Reynolds are right across from us—nice big sites. Once hooked up, Barry and Ken went to get the golf cart we all rented for the day. We used it to take a tour of the park and explore all its features.

While they were gone, I walked across the little bridge behind our campsite. It went over to the small amphitheater area. Each night, Chip and Dale lead songs and have s’mores roasts. I found a zip lock bag next to the end of the bridge and picked it up. Just about the same time, a young girl came running over, saw me pick it up, and had a sad look on her face. There was a note in the bag about a scavenger hunt. Ding, ding, ding! The girl was on a scavenger hunt put on by the park. I called her back and gave the bag to her. You should have seen the huge smile on her face as she thanked me. Glad I made her day.

Once the guys were back with the golf cart, Jan and I hopped in, and we were off to explore. We stopped at both stores in the campgrounds. I bought a soft Mickey Mouse blanket for the RV and a Christmas ornament. We decided to have an early dinner at Crockett’s Tavern. Our waiter was full of information. He told us to make sure we go to the beach each night to see the fireworks from Magic Kingdom. That sounded like a great idea to the four of us, and we planned to see them tonight. After we ate, we drove over to the beach area to check it out. Next to the beach are the boat docks where we board a boat to Magic Kingdom. It’s a free service they offer.

We drove around some of the other campgrounds, over to each pool area, and where we would catch the bus to Animal Kingdom and Epcot. The buses are free too. The bus area is by the stables for horseback riding. What a great campground. It also features cabins that you can rent, as well as RV rentals that are already set up.

We both had a few chores to do before the fireworks, so we drove back to our rigs. When it was time to drive down to see the fireworks, J&K decided to pass, but we went and had a great time. We walked to the end of the docks to watch them. Fireworks never get old. Quite a few people were there, but it was not crowded at all. You could hear all the ooohhhsss and aaahhhhhs from everyone. Disney does the best fireworks.
